Wasn't there a comedian with a bit about this? Saying the companies should make brand new jeans, give them to the homeless for a while to let them frick them up, get them back, and then sell them as "distressed" to idiots that want holes in their jeans?

Edit: Makes a profit while not having to distress them yourself, and you solve a problem by clothing the homeless.
