The joke was more about how mad I knew people get over that stuff. More of an obvious troll than a joke in the classic sense.

I didn't have cable for almost 3 years. Lived alone. Went to work at 6am, went to the bar at 5pm, went home at 9pm, took trips literally every weekend.

It was great at the time, but I come home after work now and stick around the city on the weekends because there's always something to do close by.

Just because having no cable works for you right now in your life doesn't mean much. You'll have it again one day.

No doubt, we're just making fun of the OP. My sis and BIL cut when they moved and love it. We plan on doing it soon.

Agreed
I cut the cable completely last month, great decision. Everything I watch can be seen on Apple TV or streamed online from my tv.

Recently did the same. We have antenna for local news (which by itself gets 30+ channels in NYC), then Netflix, Hulu and now HBO for everything else. We have a beer garden across the street for anything big on ESPN, so no need to steal passwords. It works for us.

ETA- I abhor Time Warner cable, so that's part of the reason I cut the cord as soon as I could justify it.

So you need someone who subscribes to cable's credentials to watch a live sporting event that is your sole point in a case against why people should pay for cable? Or am I missing something?

I don't mind paying for the convenience of flipping around, searching what is on, DVRing stuff. Don't want to have to stream and search for things. But I'm old and not super tech savy.

If you're a die hard sports fan, it's very hard to enjoy sports without paying for cable.

If I was just a movie/TV series guy, then I'd easily get rid of it. But, I can't watch football, boxing, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, golf, etc without it.
