Garage built in 1979 and two incidents in past year.

Stop the world, I want off!

Without knowing more facts, that is a problem for them. Having actual notice of a potentially dangerous condition is pretty harmful.

She has admitted her "foot slipped off the brake" but a lawyer got in her ear.

First thing I would do as the defendant is get her medical record after the incident to see how many prescription pills were in her system.

In the previous incident, the cables held a 5,000 pound SUV by one tire....seems like that should be strong enough to pass inspection, but I'm no CE

Bowmer, who lives in Cedar Park, says the wires that serve as walls in the parking garage made her “freak out.”

“I realized that hey — there’s no barrier, there’s just four wires here. My foot slipped off the brake,” she said. “And I just went straight through the wires and hit the wall on the other side and I hit a gas line on the way down and I went seven stories down and it was horrific.”

So, wait, she actually noticed the wires first, became frightened, THEN had her foot "slip"?

I don't think anyone wants to take a 7 story drop on purpose, but that's just odd.

I hope the courts laugh their arse off at this woman and dismiss the lawsuit.

These are the stories that make me lose hope in America.

This woman was an idiot and made several miscalculations/missteps that led to her demise. You can't make anything safe enough for stupid people, stupid people will always find a way.

I would bet my life savings these people voted for Hill-dawg. They probably wore "I'm with Her" pins on election day.

I'll judge a book by its cover in this scenario: She definitely looks like the type to abuse prescription pills.

I wouldn't bet on it.

The courts, be it a random judge or random dozen citizens, have no incentive to protect a random business owner from a frivolous lawsuit. What skin is it off their backs?

I don't think its a matter of business owner vs lowly non-business owner victim. Hopefully its a matter of physical evidence. The woman made multiple mis-steps in her actions and admitted to her own mistakes.

I'm calling BS she went through the wires without applying the gas, and simply taking her foot off the break. There's no way her car would have had the momentum without some acceleration.
