Stacy Pincus accuses the coffee chain of packing almost half of their cold beverages with ice as a means to skimp on serving actual coffee to customers, according to the suit obtained by Courthouse News.

When it comes to ordering a 24-ounce “Venti” coffee, for example, Pincus claims a customer only receives 14 ounces of actual coffee, and ice takes up the remaining 10. The miffed customer further notes that hot Starbucks beverages typically cost less than cold ones, even though they contain more coffee because of the lack of ice.

Among the accusations hurled at the coffee conglomerate are fraud, negligent misrepresentation and unjust enrichment. Pincus expresses her intent to represent everyone who ever purchased a cold drink from the coffee chain over the last 10 years.

Cold brew is also more inefficient than hot drop brew. And you want coffee concentrate when making iced coffee. Plus, it takes 24 hours to make. That'd explain the price difference.

She should've sued for 10 million.

All she had to do was ask for less ice in her drink.

If you can go to Starbucks and ask for nonfat, no whip, extra shot espresso, soy, etc, etc.....you can make a simple request about not as much ice. And, Starbucks will always remake a drink for their customers if you don't like it.

I mean do they say you get 24 oz of coffee or is that just the Vinti sized portion you're order of a drink. If the drink contains ice then they will be less of the beverage. Unless it expressly says somewhere that you get x amount of coffee per cup then I don't really see this going anywhere. Is there a reasonable expectation that in a 24 ounce cup that requires part of the cup to contain ice as per how to make the drink that you would get exactly 24 ounces of coffee or would you get the drink specified which is an iced coffee.

*disclaimer: not a lawyer and have not looked into the details of this haha

I think Cane's is very guilty of this. They also use the tiny ice so it fills up more space.

The class is represented by Steven Hart with Hart, McLaughlin & Eldridge in Chicago.

That's the guy who sued Starbucks though.

One with more merit was the Subway 11-inch footlong suit.

Or she could get her iced coffee elsewhere. See how much simpler that would be?

Hope she breaks a leg. Literally.

Fricking hate people that sue because their life sucks and they are too lazy to find a job that makes decent money

Nah I got one of their refresher drinks that day.

I've been riding my bike for exercise lately. There are two coffee shops 5-7 miles away from me(one Starbucks, one a local one). I'll usually stop at one of them on my ride to take a break, read some while relaxing on their patio. Alternate between getting iced tea of some sort, hot or iced nonfat chai lattes, or the refresher drinks at Starbucks.

This is why I don't get anything to goi. They might as well not put any liquid in cups.

They are big time offenders. That's why I always request light ice and they give me less. You just have to ask.
