Not really gore, but pretty brutal, especially in slow motion

Both survived. SHe is being honored for shielding the child who was not even hers.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WSVN) — A dangerous drive in Connecticut was caught on camera, when a car was seen slamming into pedestrians.

It’s hard to believe when you look at the surveillance video that nobody was killed when a speeding car crashed into pedestrians and slammed them into a building. However, police say it’s thanks to one woman that there were no fatalities.

“First of all, I want to say ‘Thank you’ to this good person,” said Bridgeport Police Chief A.J. Perez.

Police are now singling out the heroic actions of Shanta Jordan, whom you can clearly see jumping in front of the vehicle in an effort to push a little boy out of the car’s path. They say her body absorbed much of the impact, thereby saving the child’s life, though he was seriously injured.

Story
quote:

Amazing woman, she is so brave for that,” Jordan’s friend said. “If it wasn’t for her, that boy would not made it.”

Police say doctors initially thought they would have to amputate both of the boy’s legs, but surgeons in the hospital spent hours operating and spared him that fate.
They say if it was not for Jordan’s bravery, this little boy’s family would be grieving his loss.

That's great. Glad no one was killed. Looks like to me she decided on a direction to run and at point of impact was in front of the child. Hero? Sure, why not? Here's a sticker and a plaque.

It kind of looks like she was trying to get out of the way and just happened to get in front of the kid

What's the deal with the second lady just running off?

I don't think she meant to shield the child. When she turned to run, she accidentally ran into him. She didn't do anything wrong but that wasn't on purpose.

Lol the headlines actually say jumped in front of a car to shield him hahaha. You can even still see the cell at her head when she was hit. She ran by that kid like he wasn't there. Those big thighs helped to save his life so sure, give her a medal and call her what you want. But that is the furthest thing from purposely trying to save a life. Better to be lucky than good though so good for her being there.

She was running away, practically running over that boy.

This, all of this.

Glad they survived, but yeah, that was "flight" reaction, not "save the kid first" reaction.

Certainly could be. Maybe they interviewed some witnesses who had a better view or what happened beforehand and such. Maybe she was just running like you said. Both could have been killed.

Pretty much. I'm not coming down on her because everything happened really fast but that wasn't intentional. Glad everyone survived, though.

I had to play it real slow to see, and I finally did. She did put herself between the car and the kid. I would call that a hero.

Good thing she was not an undercover police. You would have never posted the story.

Where else could she have put herself though?

She did. She was walking towards the car and turned left and ran as if she was trying to run away. She was on her cell too. She in no way was able to have the clarity of mind to think that she needed to shield this kid by placing herself in harms way. She made a split second decision to go one way. It happened to work out for the boy. Nothing at all wrong with it. Nobody has time to think, just move. Call it God's will or dumb luck. It worked out. I just think it's funny to think she knowingly saw this car coming and pulled a superman. She would have wrapped or shoved the kid if what the article suggest were the case. At quarter speeds she isn't even looking at the child.
