She talked an obviously mentally disturbed teenager into killing himself.

She might have been a cheerleading section, but he put a ton of research and effort into killing himself too. Don't absolve his part in this.

If I text my girlfriend and tell them to go kill someone am I liable?

Guy was clearly disturbed but I think she is guilty.

How the frick can someone do that? I almost feel like it's worse than Actually killing him. I wish I could punch that bitch in the face..

How does that logically even make sense? She's a horrible person, but it's terrifying how quickly our society is just accepting suicide is not on the individual performing the act. Again, he put solid work on researching things, didn't have a gun to his head, and set it up killing himself.

Charles Manson comes to mind. He's got a life sentence for something similar. It depends on the facts if you catch criminal liability for telling someone to kill someone else.

I'm going out on a limb and saying someone who's openly researching ways to kill himself and involving his girlfriend isn't exactly innocent here.

As someone who had a relationship where suicide was threatened, it is one of the most fricked up things you can do to a person. Those moments of time between someone threatening suicide and responding to say they aren't going to do it are some of the longest things on the planet, and terrifying. Do I call the cops? Do I call EMS? No, she's just joking/attention seeking, or is she? If I call in the Calvary and it turns out she was just joking, will I get in trouble? frick, frick, frick she's not responding. Oh my god did she do it? frick.

Yeah but I doubt you were texting her convincing her that she needs to pull the trigger

depends, did you tell her to do it day after day and then encourage her to continue the murder when doubt was raised mid attempt?

The guy was scared and even got out of the car when the cm started to take effect. She talked him into getting back in and going through with it. She should be in jail for that. Glad she was convicted.

This. Also, I know it won't be popular on this board but I hope this ruling can be used in the future when evil fricks bully and pressure young kids into suicide too like that horrible arse mother who set up a face social media profile to purposefully bully her fricking neighbors kid into killing herself.

frick people who do shite like that. They are no better than your garden variety thug that this board wants to have locked up and/or put down.

She watched someone step up on the cliff then told them to jump. They stepped down and she berated them and told them to jump. They said they couldn't she berated them some more and told them to step up and jump. The most disturbing thing to me reading through the texts were when he says another day wouldn't be that bad. That is what could have kept him alive as he worked through whatever it was that was so burdensome on him. Just another day and maybe his meds get straightened out. Just another day and maybe he sees death isn't the answer. This was a young man with troubles that weighed heavily upon him who confided and trusted in her. Who knows if she was the only thing he clung to. I don't absolve him of blame, but he swung open the door that could have saved him and she slammed it back in his face. What she did was absolutely sadistic all so she could get the attention of being the girl whose boyfriend committed suicide.

While this is true. I think we can agree watching someone jump off a cliff is a little different than what she did.

This is sorta like an adult telling a very young child, "hey its ok, go play with that gun, or go play on that highway". "It's ok, you'll be dead soon, so it will all be over."

The judge acknowledged this as much as her role in it.
