Those of you looking for winter weather in Louisiana want to see the GFS/Euro camp stop cutting off that energy at 500 mb.

The GFS @ both 00z and 6z trended towards a winter weather solution for y'all down there. The Euro is still a hold out but at this point it has a few things going against it: it is outside the consensus now, it has a known bias of being too aggressive with holding energy back over the SW, and we just haven't seen many lows cutoff in that area this winter.

As of right now (not including 12z GFS or Euro) it looks like 0.25 - 0.50" of precipitation could fall with temps at or below 32. In fact, this air mass looks colder than the last one and could generate even more ice accumulation or possibly even legit snow.

For the TL,DR crowd:

Anyone else think this one won't be nearly as significant than this past Friday?

Why couldn't Jindal get salt granules shipped in now?

Seems like a good idea to learn from Friday and have workers in position to salt the overpasses and the bridges

Is that a prediction? Cause I dont think anyone has seen such a consensus in modeling for winter precipitation in south LA in quite some time.

Yeah, even in the 2008 blizzard, no one was predicting the 8-9 inches we ended up getting.

KPLC weather guy did the same last week. Did all but said nothing was going to happen and was borderline pompous about it.

Wish I could find the video. He was that arrogant about it.

One way, I can understand that because the amount of stupid people in this area panicking at the first mention about ice. It's seriously like the world was ending. Thered be literally thousands of calls, emails, Facebook messages etc etc.

Then again, don't have to act in that manner as if you're never wrong and EVERYONE is stupid.

I remember the Christmas saban left LSU. I remember following on this board matter of fact... Said it was gonna be a significant snow event.

Nothing happened but in Texas. Everything else dissipated heading east.

We don't know for sure what is going to happen, but everyone should be prepared in case we have road closures again.

From wunderground:

What are the chances of flying into BR on Tuesday around 5:00 pm? Will flights be canceled?
