I don't live in Baton Rouge, but I am in the Baton Rouge area. The thought of moving to Baton Rouge crosses my mind from time to time since I have to go there for just about everything. When I last looked at houses, it was in an area that would be St George if it ever becomes a city.

With that said, is it likely St George will become a city? If so, how will this change the public school system? Currently kids do not go to the school they live closes to right? So if St George becomes a city then kids will be able to go the schools closes to them, whereas Baton Rouge will likely keep the public school system as it is?

This is just a reference, but here is the website I was looking at.

You couldn't afford it if it did, so just stay in the LP or AP.

Edit: just giving you a hard time. But no, St. George will not happen. They gave it their best go and it didn't happen.

The new plan will be unveiled soon. Much much smaller area to be incorporated with annexations to follow. The way they should have done it to begin with.

Within the proposed area? That's totally false for most of them.

Wrong, unless they are in a magnet or gifted/talented program or if a school is overcrowded and thus some students may have to go to a school that's not closest to where they live.
Then they may go to a school farther from where they live.

Other than that EBR schools are based on a "neighborhood" system.

If St. George incorporates, that's still no guarantee it will get its school system.

True but it will be a city separate from the current shite-show of a government that EBR has now. That alone makes it worth the battle. The school system would almost be inevitable.

Your q: "Will st George ever become anything of consequence?"

Short and long answer: No.

I would ask next: "why?"

Answer: because it's the only thing dumber than north Baton Rouge.

I will answer all questions concisely re this subject. My word is bond.

I still fail to understand why the public schools in LA are so terrible.

likely never will happen but...
if it did happen property values there would skyrocket
if Louisiana wasn't such a backwards arse state and collected property tax instead of state income tax they'd see why this is an idea to be encouraged

alas we wallow in the regressive welfare whirlpool

Yeah I don't understand how the education system is ranked at the bottom year after year, nothing is ever done to improve.

I sure hope they still include the big box stores on Millerville and the new development Greens at Millerville in the city of St. George. That would be good tax revenue for the new city.
