i can't decide if i should pay extra to fly out of baton rouge? it's 4 tickets though so the extra hundred per ticket adds up, and i like southwest because i "know the routine" from flying southwest all of the time. what do you think? will the traffic around 11am from Baton Rouge to NOLA airport be awful the monday before Fat Tuesday?

What time is your flight? If its early in the morning it shouldn't be that bad. And you are going to the airport, its not like you are going into the city..

If traffic on 10 is bad just take airline? You can always start on 10 and hop off in St. Amant/Sorrento. I'd say just give yourself an extra half hour just in case if you're really that worried

If you do not have Premier Status or TSA Pre-Check, I would plan on getting there a little earlier than usual due to the increased traffic through TSA.

I'll be there. 5:13AM flight Monday morning.

Any traffic you encounter definitely isn't worth $400 to avoid.

You should be good in the late morning as most, if not all, people in for Mardi Gras will already be in New Orleans. Also some people have off the Monday of Mardi Gras so that may cut down on business traffic.

You'll be fine, especially for a 1:30 flight. Like someone else said, give yourself an extra 15-20 minutes if you don't have status or precheck...otherwise, you won't have many issues.

Before moving back this year, I flew the last 8 years out of NOLA on the Monday before Fat Tuesday. No issues at all.

I fly out of either BTR or MSY twice per month via United, 9 times out of 10 BTR is cheaper

The traffic inside the airport will be worse than the roadway

Yup. Anytime I've had to go get or drop off someone around this time the airport loop was a total cluster frick. The drive there is not a problem. The drive back into the city may.
