We have an older lab and she is lonely because we had to put our golden down earlier this year. Normally I would say no right away, but it is a young lab. Should give in on this one?

Yes! Anytime you can give a homeless dog a good home you do it.

I'd do it.

But, I'd only pay 2/3rds....

Better a three legged dog than a 3 legged pool boy.

It'll have fewer joint problems later in life...

I came in here to make a nonsense drunk comment but then I read your post. Sorry about your golden retriever, that sucks. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you luck

I had a dog without any legs. We named him Cigarette and every night I’d take him out for a drag.

Do it. If you don't it may be put down. The love that dog will show you will be unconditional. You'll change its life.

That's true. The wife is a vet and did the amputation on this dog. So she got attached. I laid down rules of a 2 dog only household and I don't want her to try and circumvent that rule later when the old lab dies.

The dog is with a lab rescue and has recovered from distemper, but still had to amputate one of the rear legs.

I wouldn't adopt a handicap. Get another dog with 4 legs

We adopted a 3 legged dachshund. She gets around really well. Still fricking obnoxious like the rest of them.

Wait, what?

So only two dogs ever? The way that reads is that you won’t let her replace the dog that dies.

Not to be a dick, but is it better for a dog to have a missing front or back leg? I would think front since you can still pivot while pushing off with a back leg
