Wife is Having C Section tomorrow morning

Son is 3 weeks early. I am excited, anxious, and petrified. I can't wait for the little guy to get here. Doctors say he should be fine but early is early and is very frightening...
I know C-Sections are commonplace nowadays, but it's still a surgery and surgeries always come with risks. Has anyone else gone through it? How did you handle it and how was the recovery?

Wife had one, when we got to the hospital and discovered baby was breach. It went really quick, and she did great with the recovery. One good thing is that the baby's head won't be all out of whack with the c setion, and neither will your wife
When they did ours, my daughter came out not making a sound and not moving, so it was a little scary at first, but then you hear that first scream, and the emotions rush in.
Congrats....good luck!!

My wife had all 3 of our boys via c-section. It's a strange thing, watching someone cut your wife open...however, her doctor was awesome before and during each one. They are paid all that money for a reason.
Recovery is a little longer than natural childbirth, and you will have to do all the household chores b/c she will be sore as all hell for a while.
Main thing for dad is to be there, and make sure your wife can focus on the little one while she recovers. Your job for the next few weeks is to make her life as easy as possible.
Hope this helps.

My wife had two. Both went fine. I didn't watch though, just hung around by her head and talked to her.

Thanks all for the responses. They're appreciated. Hoping everything works out and they both do fine. Her doctor seems really good, so I'm confident.

Congrats on never sleeping again.

Wife had one. Very common. No big deal.
Only big deal will be for you if you peek on the other side of the drape. Don't do it.

Definitely stay north of the equator.

My first was a month early. It's a very common procedure. I'm sure both the baby and the mother will be fine. Recovery isn't too bad, just like any other surgery. Take it easy and don't try to do too much too quickly.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Look into her eyes lovingly. Maybe hold her hand. Do not look around elsewhere. There will be people moving about doing things. Pay no attention to those people. When the doc hands you the baby you can remove your gaze from your brides face. Good luck.

I thought I'd have this attitude but I was all up in the operation. I thought I might as well witness this once in a lifetime experience.

Congrats! Is he at least 6lb...he will be fine! Your wife will need a couple weeks...tell her to sleep, sleep, sleep...while she still can!

That doesn't really matter considering the smell and how they basically cut you open and take your insides out
I had one. Recovery sucks for the first few days. Help her to walk as soon as she can. Someone told me to try ASAP, and I'm so glad I did.

The wife has had two...the first an emergency because the baby was in distress.
She went into labor the night before we had the 2nd scheduled and that one had to be done an hour earlier than scheduled due to complications.
Stressful as hell, but thankful for c-sections for those two reasons!

baby and mom will be fine...as with any surgerym it just takes a while for her to recover...
what strikes me is how fast things move once the process starts...they go from anesthesia to baby in hand in no time flat...

My wife had one. You should watch if you can. It's crazy how hard those doctors pull on the opening. I gagged a little but it was pretty cool

I didn't watch, but the nurse took my camera a took pics of everything. Kinda cool.
You're right about them pulling hard. Looked like she was going to rip my little girls head off. After that I realized that it takes a lot to hurt a baby.
