How could a dog overpower a non-impaired man? I don't get it?

Youre by yourself laying on your couch half asleep watching the nba games Christmas day. A pit you have had for eight years latches on to your to your throat. Normally you could beat the frick/eye gouge it off you. However, Pits have been beaten with shovels and been shot and not given up their locked grasp. You die

I would never own a car - those things are crazy. Doesn't matter how they're raised.

I wouldn't own one but I've also known 2-3 that were just awesome and sweet dogs.

They did it on Weeds and it worked. So I figure it must be true.

Has nothing to do with the way you raise them I guess... Right... It's just a matter of time when I'm going to get mauled.

Of course it has something to do with how it's raised. Very few things are 100% nature or 100% nurture, but pit bulls have a whole lot of nature that makes them prone to snapping and becoming aggressive.

Every time one of these threads comes up the pit owners come in and say, "I've owned a pit for X number of years and have never seen signs of aggression," and that's great and chances are your dog won't attack you or someone else and cause serious harm, but it is much more prone to than any other dog.

It's sort of like choosing to have a hand grenade as a paper weight.

So are girls slutty because of nature or nurture?

It's kind of like saying, I've been married for 8 years and had straight missionary sex the whole time. Then, bam! Tonight my wife wanted anal and a threesome with an Asian dwarf,

Never happened to me.

The sheer numbers of pitbulls and the sheer number of shitty owners that target them and raise them terrible frick up the numbers.

I would bet anything if you took numbers from responsible owners that pitbull attacks wouldn't be in the top 10. Small dogs are way way way more aggressive it's just pits are much stronger and the news loves them.

I just know I've been around them my entire life as well as "ghetto" dogs/breeds and it's two different worlds. The dogs that are breed right/any aggressive dog put down, and raised in a loving stable environment, they tent to be amazing dogs.

I know it's just anecdotal evidence but my recent dog of 12 years never even barked in his life unless we asked him to. He let people he had never met just walk in the house and walk around with no one home. He would be excited to see them. He jumped in a realators car next door when she left the door open wanting to go for a ride. Dude was the best dog you could have. And his dad was the same. I would take him to play with his grandmaw who was the same. His great grandmother was an amazing dog that won in dog shows and known as a "champion".... On and on throughout my life.

And you'd lose that bet.

quote:

But do pit bulls deserve their reputation as vicious "attack" dogs? An overwhelming amount of evidence suggests they do.

A five-year review of dog-bite injuries from the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, published in 2009 in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, found that almost 51 percent of the attacks were from pit bulls, almost 9 percent were from Rottweilers and 6 percent were from mixes of those two breeds.

In other words, a whopping two-thirds of the hospital's dog-attack injuries involved just two breeds, pit bulls and Rottweilers.

Other studies confirm these statistics: A 15-year study published in 2009 in the American Journal of Forensic Medicine and Pathology revealed that pit bulls, Rottweilers and German shepherds were responsible for the majority of fatal dog attacks in the state of Kentucky. [See What Your Dog's Breed Says About You]

And a 2011 study from the Annals of Surgery revealed that "attacks by pit bulls are associated with higher morbidity rates, higher hospital charges and a higher risk of death than are attacks by other breeds of dogs."

The authors of that 2011 study go on to say, "Strict regulation of pit bulls may substantially reduce the U.S. mortality rates related to dog bites."

quote:

Pit bulls join several other breeds on the list of dogs that are recognized as more likely to attack and cause significant injury: The Centeres for Disease Control and Prevention analyzed data and found the following breeds are implicated in a majority of dog-bite fatalities:

Pit bulls
Rottweilers
German shepherds
Huskies
Wolf hybrids
Malamutes
Doberman pinschers
Chow-chows
Saint Bernards
Great Danes
It's worth noting that no matter how these data are arranged — mixed breeds versus pure breeds, injuries versus fatalities — pit bulls consistently rank at the top of the list for attacks, and by a wide margin. (Rottweilers generally rank a distant second.)

Guess you failed to read this link the first time I posted it.

Lucky for us it's only the white trash owners (and their kids) who are attacked by their pit bulls.
