How many millions of visitors have they had there before this ONE death?

It's terrible, don't get me wrong, but I'm guessing they've had more deaths by lightening on their property than alligator.

The error is not in the gators. The error is in park design. If you don't want people wading into water, don't put sand. Leave it grassy and muddy. And dredge out the damned weeds and algae.

Disney is in for a major lawsuit and major expense in totally redesigning these resorts.

That pond looks like a water hazard at any course. Small ledge and steep drop. They need to remove the sand, fence off the thing, or remove the ledge. A gator can't stalk and launch without a little ledge of shallow water to launch from, and their wont be any prey if no ledge to stand on.

Also complete with "no swimming" signs.

I wouldn't let my child in that water and it has nothing to do with Gators.

There's not really a ledge....it's a fairly shallow body of water all the way across. As I stated before, it's man-made with the dirt pulled from there used to build up the Magic Kingdom and resort land. It's connected to a much deeper body of water in Bay Lake which is a natural body of water.

There was also a sign on the beach, as well as other signs in the area. No one that I've seen has any idea exactly what signs are there.

although I can't seem to fine a picture of it

every news outlet has reported the signs as "no swimming" signs

Was there one that said "Beware Of alligators" ? The news reports said there wasn't.

I'm not even sure this is a winnable lawsuit, there were no swimming signs and it was a wild animal fluke accident at 9:30 at night. Maybe because its Disney and people feel bad for the family and knows Disney had money, but a judge could overturn it.

Given that, I'm sure Disney is going to pay them out of condolence, to hush up, and put this behind everyone.

with a white sandy beach like that, i would not translate no swimming sign to not standing in water ankle deep few minutes in casual clothes as "breaking the law".

Snakes, Allegators, stagnant water....it's a lake dug out of a swamp in Florida. There will be mosquitoes, bugs, and stuff that can bite.

There was a reporter that had similar questioning as to why Alligators were present in a city that was built in the swamp. I'm convinced that both of you are one nugget short of a happy meal.

I honestly don't recall seeing any signs warning of gators at any of the beaches. Here's a pic from one of the beaches at the Grand Floridian with the warning sign. I can't make out the text at the top, but the bottom definitely reads "No Swimming". Click on the image to get the full size version.
