You show me the cost of a cycling license, and I'll show you how much support should be given.

The "support" for hunting and fishing comes from hunters and fishermen. Of course, if bike riders had to buy a license, and were ticketed for their traffic violations, there wouldn't be nearly as many out there being a pain in the arse to people with places to go, would there?

Well as it's been said before, I'll reiterate. In bumper to bumper traffic, this morning cars are having to maneuver around a guy on a bike, in an effort to not kill him. Get to the light and what does the fricker do? Pass all the cars that had gotten in front of him to repeat the whole thing. frick bikes on the road.

Goes both ways, if cyclist are in the wrong they deserve a ticket. We have more problems in our area with golf carts, 4 wheeler's and Go-Carts than bikes. A 1st grader was stopped a few years back going to school alone on a golf cart about 2 miles.
A bike path was just opened in St John parish along the levee. You can ride from Garyville to New Orleans on it. Not many places to cross the ditch though, so there are still riders on River Road headed to a crossing to get on the path.

I never pass cars at a light. I try to keep cars in front of me instead of behind me.

The only laws I break on my bike are not coming to a complete stop at stop signs (although I do slow down and I wait until my turn) and I ride on the sidewalk if it's busy traffic.

The reason I don't come to a complete stop is it takes awhile to get back up to speed from a dead stop and I don't want people behind me waiting any longer than necessary.

Green energy jobs would be nice but I do not know enough to say it is feasible.

I agree, if your going to be in the energy business then be in all aspects of it. One does not threaten the other.

It doesn't. Plus it would be nice to have those jobs to soften an oil downturn.

Just think if New Orleans had a green energy powered backup generator for those water pumps.

I've seen some lady bicyclists wearing sports bras with sweat between their tits.

Superhot.

The worst fricking people on Earth are cyclists who leisurely pedal at 13 mph in a 30 mph zone while a perfectly good patch of sidewalk is available to move over to and temporarily allow cars to pass.

Then, they get you stuck at a red light while they pedal their gay asses across.

It makes me irate.

You do know it's technically illegal for a bike to ride on sidewalk, don't you? It's for pedestrians. Would you be okay with a car riding on sidewalk?

Yeah, because that's a realistic comparison. I realize what the laws state in most states, but IMO bikes are not motor vehicles, and thus belong more on the sidewalk than the road if there is traffic. They are not that dissimilar from strollers and wheelchairs.

I would love for someone to come forward with a story about getting a citation for riding their bike on the sidewalk. (There won't be any.)

Some cyclists are conscientious and pedal fast. Most are liberal arts students with an oversized helmet and a lunchbox in a basket on the front pedaling like they are the only sonsabitches on the road.
