I feel like most of us would not be able to live day to day if not for him.

The last name may give his invention away, as it's still a brand.

Probably because he had the poor taste to insist on making money instead of giving it away.

Like the Wright brothers. They had such an iron grip on air planes that they US Army had to pretty much force the patent office to allow other companies to produce planes. This is a leading reason why German and European planes were so much better that US planes in WW1. The Wright Brothers built a basic flying glider, and then stifled any attempts to improve on it.

Irony that I learned about when I went to the LSU-Syracuse football game this past year: the Carrier Dome does not have air conditioning.

It did get a little stuffy in there with no AC.

I would also like to think whoever decided to stick these in cars. Imagine driving with no AC, I can't

The actual inventor of the AC was some doctor in Florida in the 19th century.

Anyway, it enables pussies to live in the South, so I don't see it as such a great thing.

Your premise is flawed.

You think that because you're acclimated to his invention. People survived day to day for literally thousands of years before air conditioning.

I know I was not being literal.

Yes, but not by the numbers we have today.

Civilizations topped out at thousands or hundreds or thousands. Now, thanks to A/C, indoor plumbing. & modern medicine we have millions living right on top of each other all over the globe.

One of the top 5 inventions of all time. AC has increased avg. life expectancy by a good margin.
