Why isn't there a Native American history month?

In all seriousness, the Native Americans got it far worse than the Africans that were brought over as slaves. The American government basically tried to eliminate the entire Native American population from existence.

Etiquette question.
Yesterday I was talking to a group of AA people. Like 6 or 7. When it was time for me to leave, I said, "See you folks later."
Was that ok?
Last time is said "it was nice visiting with you people" and I don't think that went over too well but I'm not sure why.
