Reagan's biggest failure was the "War on Drugs."

I'm 56, my brother is 10 years older. Weed was demonized for my age group, for his it was if you smoke it, just keep it on the down low.

I saw where John Bel signed a bill a few weeks ago protecting only state employees from consequences for a failed drug test if they were prescribed medical marijuana. Protect your own you POS. How about you do something useful for everybody and go after private corporations for doing the same thing.

Btw, I don’t blame companies or businesses for drug testing for weed.

It's beyond dumb that it is still illegal.

One of my friend's companies is kinda splitting apart, so he's having to get a drug test for the job at the new company. He's having to give up even doing Delta 8 edibles, which mind you are completely legal in TN and can be bought across the street from his office. But it'll show up as positive on the drug test.

Non-weed related. I work in life insurance. We had a client who admitted to using mushrooms once. She lived in CA and it was at the recommendation of her doctor for anxiety. But no one would insure her since it is still illegal federally, even though she bought legally in her state.

Just dumb.

ETA: We also had someone denied insurance because he works as an extraction person at a legal dispensary in Chicago. He didn't even smoke, so he claimed, but just because he worked there it was a straight up no.

well, if what you do when you're not at work affects what you do when you ARE at work......

Not if you are a shite person.

Hard workers are going to be hard workers, lazy employees will be lazy employees.

The legalization of weed doesn't really have much to do with that.

And if companies are against it, they can just still say they have a zero tolerance rule. It's dumb, but also their company. Put that in the employee contract so everyone is aware and there ya go.

What it boils down to, if you are in a position of responsibility, you should probably expect to be drug tested.

I’ve found it to be the opposite. Manual labor, low level employees, trades get tested. Legislators, executives, lawyers, judges, doctors, etc generally don’t

Many companies have parties where alcohol is provided.

Could you imagine if companies had a party where weed was provided?

Companies don’t want you to be drunk on the job… same makes sense for weed.

But after hours? And you are no longer impacted by time you go back to work? Stupid.

My husband used to work for the city and was the youngest person in his division. He got "random" drug tested WAY more than anyone else. Even thought it was always negative.

He did test positive for opiates on a drug test for a new job a few years ago. The amount was so small, that he thought about it and it was the poppyseed muffins we bought at Costco. He still got hired, but that is a real thing for anyone who questions it.

Progress is slow for those who see the future. But when you pull back a little, the progress is apparent.

Louisiana has effectively deciminalized simple possession of small amounts of it, and hell many places are growing weary of the war on drugs. The police agencies don't seem tired of it...yet. But I see other facets of the system growing tired of it.

Racism is barely a thing, outside of the racist left. Acceptance of the alphabet people as existing with a right to exist is real, even if people disagree with the lifestyle or whatever. It's just impossible not to see the progress unless you don't want the progress to begin with.

the democrat controlled house never did

Democrats only controlled the house after 2018 they passed the MORE bill in 2020 and it got killed by the Rebuplican controlled Senate. They just repassed it in the house again in April and again hit a roadblock in the senate because it needs 60 votes. But by all means continue with your MY SIDE GOOD YOUR SIDE BAD nonsense.

MORE bill was a poison pill, filled with lots of federal spending, legal changes with regards to immigration/fed benefits/etc. they could’ve sent a bill that only changed federal classification but didn’t because that wasn’t the goal.

This and absolute zero on abortions is why the repubs are losing young people. They do not have the ability to evolve.

When states legalize it, they tax and fee and regulate the hell out of it making it virtually impossible to stay in business.

I watched a short news segment on a California dispensary. Most all dispensaries have to sell product under the table (illegal market) to stay afloat. This odd looking hippie owner seems almost red pilled at this point.

So yeah, states govts have put so many stipulations and taxes on it, it's doesn't foster a successful industry.

Another example of govt screwing something up. It may be that California is the only state screwing it up, not sure.
