Pic? I'm not sure I believe this.
I've seen it a few times. One that sticks out it this hole-in-the-wall "lounge" off Florida when you're sitting in traffic to get to Denham.
That said, I don't agree with OP that it is accepted. And there are plenty of DUIs. I can count MAYBE 5 people I know without one. We have an entire DUI task force in BR. But we can't dedicate all of our police to DUIs
Plus, to catch every single person who went to brunch or hit up happy hour, you're talking checkpoints at all times slowing people down and increasing traffic.

Isn't that illegal? I thought open container was for anyone in the car.
You are correct.

Most automobile accidents are caused by sober drivers... just sayin.

I agree that it is widely accepted by people that do it. If you are out at a function where drinking is prevalent, nobody bats an eye at people that are obviously impaired taking off in their car.

I have friends that have DUI's, but if you can only think of 5 people that don't, you may need to keep better company

never seen that but why shouldn't a restaurant/bar promote happy hour?

I can't begin to tell you how many times I've ridden with my father to our ranch down some old, dirt roads while he polished off a 6-pack of Pearl and listening to country music. When I get a little older into my teens, he'd let me help him the beer. Great memories.

Unacceptable. Unless prior addictions are at play. Or Jesus is strong in the room.

I am exaggerating obviously, but many people my age have them. It might be dying off now that it has been a "known thing" for so long in BR and new college students probably know that.. but they really cracked down on DUIs 10-15 years ago and have only gotten worse as the years have passed.
I know people who have them from going to dinner. I know someone who got one at 1pm on a Sunday by the darn Cortana mall.. driving home after 3 mimosas at brunch. Hell, I know people who have them from refusing to do field sobriety tests/blow (you get charged with one anyway and then you must fight it). DUIs are the first thing I warn new people in BR about. Not that anyone should be drinking and driving anyway, but it is bad enough here that I won't drive after pretty much anything.

I heard Jesus, He'd drink wine, and I bet we'd get along just fine

Or gas stations selling iced down coldies. I mean who really buys an iced down 16 or 24oz beer if there is no plan to crack it open as soon as they get back in the car.
Passengers can't have a cold beer?
I'll go further, just one of those gets you legally intoxicated?

drinking and driving so accepted?
What's really a joke is the "click it or ticket" campaign.. Police never look for that when driving around and when pulled over they rarely check. It's also incredibly easy for a driver to say, I unbuckled it to reach for my glovebox, etc. Waste of time and money.

That is a weird thing to warn someone about...traffic, crime, bad areas etc all make sense but DUI's?

Well, I am generally only meeting someone new to BR randomly in a bar or at a party. So I am always telling them DO NOT DRIVE HOME.
