Whether it's billboards advertising, "let the traffic wait while you enjoy our happy hour"

Or gas stations selling iced down coldies. I mean who really buys an iced down 16 or 24oz beer if there is no plan to crack it open as soon as they get back in the car.

Also the small amount of DUIs written. Let's face it, if the law really wanted to crack down on drunk driving they could write 100s of these a night.

So why is this such an accepted practice when the dangers and threat is so severe?

You have a problem with gas stations selling cold beer?

Have you ever bought hot beer? Why would you want a hot beer?

I've done it multiple times on the way home from work so i can drink when i get home.

It's not. Drunk drivers are vilified more than rapist and murders in our society. You just have an out of touch POV.

Because it's not that hard. You just pay attention and think a bit ahead.

The same people that buy beer from anywhere else where they drove to get it? Along that same line of thinking, why do bars have parking lots?

It's so rampant because truthfully, the odds of getting caught are really low.

Because people, particularly in LA (especially in South LA), think it's impossible to have a good time without alcohol being involved.
It's about once a month there's a thread bashing someone's wedding/reception because there's no alcohol.
