re: Why don't they make dog food taste like treats?

It's a dog. When it gets hungry it will eat. Unless it's depressed. In which case it might just want to die and starve to death. It doesn't have thumbs or the gumption to actively kill itself.

So is cheap dog food for that matter.
True, but I bet cheap dog food is still more nutritious than beggin strips.

I poured gravy over it yesterday. He pretty much just licked the gravy off
Ok, festus. I'll stop giving them to him

Dry dog food
1/2 cup of warm water
1 raw egg
Strips of chicken fat
No treats. He will eat.

And I'd stick with what he's been eating for 3 years. His whole digestive system is used to it. They say when you change foods, you should do it slowly over time so as to not mess it up. Just give it a few more days, I bet he will come around once he gets used to his new surroundings.
How has he been sleeping?

just make sure the treats you feed him are formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for adult dog maintenance.
such as the Greenies treats

Never give your dog pork or bones like chicken bones. Dogs can't handle pork plus bones will splinter in their throat, and they will eventually die of throat damage. Feed your dog a dry dog food. If he's hungry enough, he'll eat it. If your giving him treats and eats them and not his food, he's training you. Withold the treats and just lay out his food. He'll get accomsted to the food if he's hungry enough. Treats were great to housebreak my two female dogs.

That's Paige's uncle's NASCAR room. I think that's where the dog originally lived.

That's Paige's dog. Not mine.
