…into the University that is going broke instead of buying out a winning football coach? Just a thought!

Physics professors aren't as entertaining as football players

Because the university isn't really going broke and the buyout won't be near $15 million.

Someone whose parents didn't meet on Ancestory.com is smart enough to realize this so I don't expect you to grasp it.

It's the same mentality as our virtuous state government that cuts higher Ed money every year.
They sorta forget football is only a game.

Because Coach Miles's poorly-coached football teams will no longer be tolerated at LSU.

July 20. 2015
LSU's athletic department announced Monday that it'll transfer $10 million to the university -- about $3 million more than its required payment.

LSU’s main campus receives a guaranteed $7.2 million from its athletics program each year, according to the athletics funds transfer policy approved by the Board of Supervisors in 2012. In a news release, the athletic department said a surplus this year allowed for an additional $2.85 million to be given to the university.

I see you're as naive as those on gameday and have no understanding of the true fiscal situation with the LSU system..

Wouldn't make a difference. The academic side of LSU blows through $15,000,000 in about 2 or 3 days.

Well we have to fund all the truly important things at LSU.

Like courses on Medieval Lesbian Basket Weaving and stories about nooses that aren't nooses.

I can't believe more people don't grasp this.

It is common, well-known knowledge yet every single thread about Miles' buyout has people comparing it to the State's budget issues.

We are a very stupid populace.

The university shouldn't be broke. It's cutting the wrong things right now. It should be cutting unsuccessful programs instead of just charging everyone more for tuition and ridiculous fees

The athletic program is one of the only programs in the country that gives back to the university directly (many top programs have indirect financial benefits for the university) so it is doing it's part, and shouldn't be blamed for not giving more

What makes you think they don't donate to academics as well?

$40M combined donation to athletics and academics

And whining about huge class sizes while professors teach one class per semester and don't even visit the campus except for Tuesday and Thursday.
