Why doesn't Walmart call the police on shoplifters after they leave the store?

I've seen two people in the last several months steal TVs from Walmart and the workers not call the cops after the shoplifters got to the parking lot.
What good reason is there not to call them?

No they don't, at least not here. I've had two managers tell me that once they make it out of the store, they let them go.
No wonder the democrats target the place.

I thought there was a confrontation a couple of years ago where the thief ended up dead and that looked bad for the company. So, they decided just let people take the stuff and figure it out with the insurance company later.

My guess is the amount lost to the shoplifter isn't worth the time and trouble of pursuing it.
Same as with insurance scammers. They get away with it as long as they don't get too greedy.

The cops know. You may not see them calling, but rest assured some kind of operation in underway and they are being monitored.

I got robbed and kidnapped like 3 years ago. Had insurance. They legit took my TV and ps4 and laptop. I had 80 on me they took that to. Whwn I talked to the police turned it into 800.was going to vo higher but that is too greedy I had a western union receipt for 1100 I could say I got it from. Every one knew I was lying but it was a reasonable lie and that was pain and suffering money

That's bullshite. It's not even shoplifting until they leave the store. If they confront them while they're still inside then it can't be called stealing because they can always say they were going to to pay for before they left. Everyone knows it's a lie but it's still a legal technicality.

Had a friend back in HS who went to steal alcohol when he was underage. Did it one day and didnt get caught, so he decided to go back the next day, and they nabbed him as he was heading toward the exit. They told him they had seen him the day prior but he made it outside so they couldn't do anything... not sure why.

That's why I don't shop at Walmarks. We're a Target family. If I have to pay a few cents more for a few things, I consider it a premium to not have to deal with riffraff.

My local PD is always posting pics of people wanted for stealing electronics from Walmart.

I know in Georgia about 10 years ago some police departments had at least one deputy assigned to their town Walmart due to all the shoplifting. Once they stopped pressing charges on those who stole less than $15 it allowed them to free up that officer.
