Had a couple of friends who would do that in grad school. Makes you realize who is a friend and who is just an acquaintance.

I have in the past tried to convince myself I didn't care when I did. After a certain point you realize almost no one in your life besides close family is permanent so whoever else doesn't matter. 7 billion people on earth means you don't have to waste time with inconsiderate a-holes except at work and you get paid for that.

If this continually happens, he/she isn't a friend. You're the last resort pal I'm sorry to say.

"Never enough time" means you aren't a priority.

They don't value you as a person. They either assume a) You will continue being their friend so it's easier to bail on you when something more fun comes along or b) They don't value you at all so you were literally a backup plan to them so it cost them nothing to cancel.

I can sympathize, I'm currently in a situation where all of my good deoendable friends have moved away and/or entered into long term relationships where all they do is watch Netflix. Making friends in your late 20s early 30s is so goddamn complicated.

Indeed. Give me 3-4 solid close friends and that's all I need. Hell, we don't even have to talk every week. People who try and be friends with everyone are typically people pleasers -- they never figure out that by trying to please everyone they end up miserable.

Someone doesn't want to hang out with me? Good.

Who gives a shite about motive? Thing here is you are being beaten. Flip that shite and get back at her. Next time preempt her cancellation with your own. But give a shitty reason like you can't do a thing with your hair or you waiting for a package to arrive but that you'll get together soon. Fire with more fire I say. Good luck with the bitch friend!

Women like to be invited to shite even if they have no plans to actually go. It's an ego thing.

All women are not flakes. Some just have this weird inability to say what they mean and mean what they say. It's annoying. I always just try to give those particular friends an easy out so they can tell me no far enough in advance that i can make other plans with other people.

Had a friend who would consistently do something similar to that, but instead of canceling plans he would just ignore me and not respond to texts or phone calls. I stopped talking to him or responding to his texts and phone calls too. Don't have time for that shite.

Agree.

I've got a few close friends from growing up and high school. They are the only trustworthy people.
