This a going to sound crazy, but there may also be people that actually feel like they got their money's worth and gave a high rating.
Perhaps not everyone is as discerning a shopper as you, although they probably at least read the reviews.

I think we have figured out who CAD really is

I just want to add my "Why amazon is is awesome" story:
Bought a new poop stool (step stool) (go watch pooping 2.0 for more details!) and it was advertised with specific dimensions. When I received said step-stool it wasn't as tall as advertised. I filled out the stuff online to send it back. When I went to print out the mailing label I instead saw a message telling me that my money was being refunded and to just keep the item instead of worrying with sending it back. I <3 amazon.

My wife recently bought a 12-soda can dispenser for the fridge. It was around $15 bucks.
Amazon accidently sent her a whole case of dispensers (12 total).
She emailed them about the mistake and they sent a pre-paid label for the return.
They also gave her a $25.00 credit for being an honest customer.
Thought that was cool.
Also--got a poop stool a few weeks ago. Changed my life.
