Why do they say shite like

“We need to cut grass or we need to go to little Timmy’s 2 yr old bday party”

Because they suck the soul out of all things individual and fulfilling to you as a man.

Your wife gets to demonstrate that you do everything she asks

And her friends wife gets to demonstrate that her husband can't possibly move into his own home without help of another man

My husband would laugh and tell me I might be but he is not.

I can't imagine telling someone we would do something without actually asking him first.

I should add that for the girlfriend, this is a recent development. But I am going to start making excuses not to do these impromptu tasks and tell her I don't like being voluntold to do shite without my consent.

I think she learned this shite from my mother.

Don't even bother to ask you first.

"We have dinner with my parents tonight".

The frick is this about? I'm going to start requiring my girl to book an appointment on my calendar like everyone else has to.

It's the "we" stuff that I find hilarious. "I think we should pressure wash the house" oh shite, you bought a second pressure washer?

if they arent doing this then theyre just buck shotting different plans that they may or may not have any intention of following through with. Then when they settle on one and you have no idea the day of, they say "I told you this last week"

I can’t stand when my wife does this

It starts small with just assuming you’ll do stuff because they don’t feel like it or do t want to do it alone.

It was also awful when she would volunteer to do things during this past CWS and expect me to watch the kids the entire time

My ex did something similar early in our marriage. I did it, but afterward I told her not to ever do anything like that again. I said it nicely and explained my position. I’m convinced that she filed that away as a reason to call me lazy later.

My wife and I have been married 20 years and I believe we’re actually past this point. She rarely volunteers me for anything anymore because she knows I won’t deal well with it

Hell no.

Don’t make excuses. She’s in the wrong not you.

Tell her that if you weren’t party to the agreement you aren’t obligated to help her friend.

If she wants to help her move, great.

If she wants your help she can consult you ahead of time or try to bargain with you for something you want…

As soon as you feel the need to make excuses for spending your time you’ve set a precedent.
