Because the government benefits they receive aren't linked to mandatory 5 year birth control administration and/or forced sterilization.

That's not it. Poor people ALWAYS have cable tv. Middle class, self-sufficient people are far more likely to be cord-cutters because a) they've figured out how to use streaming to pretty much get the same thing for far less or b) have decided that their money could be better spend elsewhere.

Meanwhile, working poor on food stamps generally have the 180 channel "Gold" package with every premium movie network, HD receivers, and a 70 inch flatscreen.

A lot of poor young adults are poor because they have shitty parents who didn't take good care of them. So these young women grow up and are desperate for love. But no decent men want them because they're trashy and drug addled. So they become attracted to trashy drug addled young men. These women are so starved for love that they will do anything for a child, whom they know will love them and trust them and depend on them. In turn these women think that these men will commit to them once they conceive a child. But the men are usually in prison by the time the child is born. So the women begin the process all over again. And another doomed child is born.

These children are doomed because the mothers don't even raise them. They are raised by aunts and grandmothers and friends' parents, while these young women continue their lives of whoring and doing drugs to get men to love them. And every once in a while the women will pick up their child from her aunt's house and they'll take a selfy together and she'll post it on Facebook and tell the world how much she loves motherhood.

And all seem to chain smoke cigarettes.

I got high one night about 15 years ago and had this epiphany about smokers. For a brief moment, it made complete sense why "trashier", poorer people continue to do it later in life. It's their thing, it's all they got. Something nobody can take away from them. Until cancer.
