re: Why do people (on here) feel the need to question people's religion?

It's very immature to think that an ideology like religion only influences those that choose to be influenced by it.
People should have their personal beliefs, but it should be subjected to the same fact based and logical scrutiny as any other belief in the areas where it is impacting everyone, even those that choose to be honest.

I question everything. It is my personality. I am an eternal devil's advocate. People usually incorrectly guess my actual position because I am generally just trying to further understanding, and there are few things that I actually have a very firm opinion on because I know that my understanding will always be incomplete.
Also, this type of forum lends itself to people being self righteous, on both sides. The religious folk tend, but not always, to be more on the more irrational side of things, almost by definition.

The reason we pick on atheists for doing it is because they hate on religions for evangelizing and acting morally superior while doing exactly that. Making fun of atheists for evangelizing is like making fun of family values politicians having sex with underage male prostitutes. It's not the activity that draws the ire near as much as the hypocrasy.
Most atheists keep their mouths shut because they know that they will be judged for honestly voicing their opinions. In my experience religious people tend to be the most judgemental people that I meet. Also, evangelism is a central tenet of christianity. The real hypocrisy is the criticism of a minority non Christians (it really isn't even just atheists) for exercising the same rights that you hold central. If someone disagrees with your ideology and even finds it to be damaging, doesn't it make sense that person would want to express it?
An aquaintance has told me this joke a few times. An atheist, crossfitter, and vegan walk into a bar. I only know because they told everyone within 2 minutes. Then he says it's funny because it's true. Want to know the irony of his telling me that joke? (I'm not an atheist per se, but I'm also not a traditional theist.)

The irony (I assume) is he tells everyone about his religion.

We all live in our glass bubbles. We see things when we don't agree with them far easier than we do when we agree with them. Afraid to shatter our little glass bubble of bias.

Well, you see, when liberals hit the inevitable roadblock of their opinions not matching truth, or reality they have to have a back door to escape out of and questioning people's religion and making personal attacks id just the sort of smokescreen that throws most people off long enough for the libitards to escape their nonsense point of view arguments. FYI, calling people racist is another favorite of theirs. When the facts don't support your bullshite argument, call them a racist and they'll be too busy defending themselves to counter your flimsy nonsense opinions.
It's all right there in the manual. Step by step.

But in all seriousness, I'm a practicing catholic, and I've been to enough atheist parties to know that they're generally pretty lame. Just a dozen of insecure, know-it-all nerdy dudes, and one rough tatted up alternative chick who smokes and probably would be hot if she quit smoking, didn't have tats, los 10lbs, took a shower, and grew her hair back out.
Interesting.
Literally have never even heard of an atheist party until now.

That's certainly the truth. Perception is highly subjective

Atheism is not a religion.

I stopped even talking about religion at work because I'm scared my views will hurt me. In this area we live in the crazy Baptist and sinning Catholics would judge me as less moral.
All the time I used to get the "How can you have morality without God?"
Modern day Christianity in America what a damn beauty.

I have no issue with atheism, just atheists. Isms are never the problem. People using isms as an excuse to be smug, arrogant, condescending, hypocritical bastards is a problem. I have the same problem with believers of most faiths, philosophies, diet trends, hobbies, ect.
When one uses an ism as an identity, they lose their humanity and lose sight of the humanity of allthose who do not share their isms.

You sir ... Are a true dumbass. Yes. Its true that the Roman Catholic Church activEly promotes a program of sexual molestatation that is unheard from any other organizations where pedofiles have been weeded out, like public school systems, the boy scouts, protestant mega churches, orphanages etc etc.
pedophiles infiltrate organizations where they have access ... Dumbass. Where the Catholic Church went wrong is that they covered shot up and I'm mad as he'll about it. And so are many thousands of good priests that have made a huge difference in the world.
So take your hate elsewhere friend ...
Well you sir can eat shyt because I'm going to take my hate on any organization that covers up children getting molested and makes a concerted effort protect the rapists.
