I said that in my post

The reason we pick on atheists for doing it is because they hate on religions for evangelizing and acting morally superior while doing exactly that. Making fun of atheists for evangelizing is like making fun of family values politicians having sex with underage male prostitutes. It's not the activity that draws the ire near as much as the hypocrasy.

It's too late for all those fancy words.

Christian. (said in a condescending tone)

Ain't no party like an athiest party 'cause an atheist party does stop completely at death.

But in all seriousness, I'm a practicing catholic, and I've been to enough atheist parties to know that they're generally pretty lame. Just a dozen of insecure, know-it-all nerdy dudes, and one rough tatted up alternative chick who smokes and probably would be hot if she quit smoking, didn't have tats, los 10lbs, took a shower, and grew her hair back out.

If it's between death and Dante's version of hell, give me death.

You sir ... Are a true dumbass. Yes. Its true that the Roman Catholic Church activEly promotes a program of sexual molestatation that is unheard from any other organizations where pedofiles have been weeded out, like public school systems, the boy scouts, protestant mega churches, orphanages etc etc.

pedophiles infiltrate organizations where they have access ... Dumbass. Where the Catholic Church went wrong is that they covered shot up and I'm mad as he'll about it. And so are many thousands of good priests that have made a huge difference in the world.

So take your hate elsewhere friend ...

I'm actually quite partial to the catholic 3-tier system despite it being wholly unsupported by scripture. It just comes across as so much more fair than the Protestant visions of hell. In Catholicism, the perfect, the innocent, and the downright Saintly go straight to heaven at death. The truly wicked go straight to hell. Those who are in between are given a chance to redeem themselves and "work off their debt", so to speak, in Purgatory. How long one must stay in Purgatory depends on the depth of their unrelentant sins. It solves the issue of "what if they came from Japan where there is no Jesus!?" By giving them a "Path to Citizenship" in Heaven if they accept Jesus when meeting him in the afterlife and working off their sins.

It's the most fair afterlife system around, in my opinion.

I'm agnostic and don't care what religion someone claims. Everyone has something to help them through life and if religion makes your life better, I'm not going to talk you out of it.

I don't deny spirituality or a god. I just have many questions. My understanding though is god cannot be proven or disproven.

I certainly respect people's POV however, and enjoy learning different faiths. Anything that enriches your life should be relished, and I abide by that in the way I treat others.

Please tell me you're not one of those people that protests gay marriage (eta) or speaks out openly against gay marriage.

Yeah this is the part I dislike.

Having 12yrs in a Catholic system and then accidently finding Atheism might have help keep me away from that path. I wasn't seeking a +1 on others. All its brought me is a sense of true mortality with clearer thoughts, greater respect for life and mankind.

No, again, leave people alone if they aren't hurting you. I'm in the military and dealt with the gay stuff rather easily after I realized that it has no effect on me.

Well, I'm glad it worked for you. I just remember a coulle friends of mine in college had an "athiests club" and what I described was pretty much it. I think too many people choose thier religion (or lack their of) based on all the wrong reasons. Too many just do it out of habit, to impress a girl, or to rebel against their parents. Choosing the religion that most fits your lifestyle, worldview, and philosophy on life should be a very serious decision. It seems like you chose to be an atheist for all of the right reasons, and for that, I commend you.

No religion is truly all bad (ok, Wahabiist Islam is pretty bad). There are valuable lessons, rules, and philosophies taught by all of them which have the potential to positively effect someone's life.

Saw a great billboard in NYC.

"Don't like gay marriage? Don't get gay married."

Evangelicals doing their thing in a recent presidential poll:
Trump 70%
Clinton 19%

By far the largest disparity of any demographic polled. Clinton actually had the overall lead in that poll.

Religion is the only ideology that is systematically protected from criticism both from within and without.

It's very immature to think that an ideology like religion only influences those that choose to be influenced by it.

People should have their personal beliefs, but it should be subjected to the same fact based and logical scrutiny as any other belief in the areas where it is impacting everyone, even those that choose to be honest.
