probably also why there aren't many black Formula 1 or Nascar racers- the equipment and training costs have been prohibitive for many black countries and thus never had such a tradition in it

This is a cultural thing, similar to swimming. It has nothing to do with racial superiority/inferiority.

Well I knew someone who was trying to get into pro fishing but had trouble getting sponsored. So instead he started working for someone who is already established.
If sponsorship is an issue then that may be the reason in cycling.
