Seems like a good that should be relatively inexpensive, imo, yet it runs into the hundreds of dollars.

The profit margins of these companies must be among the highest in the entire economy.

you can buy them online for under $25. In most states, dr has to legally give you script. They just try not to.

Because Luxottica has a monopoly and they are Italian thugs.

LINK A 60 Minutes video on the topic. The CEO of Luxottica is a straight up gansta.

Coastal
cheaper than buying with insurance and include free 2 day shipping, case and cloth. Will have bogo deals occasionally. Just enter your prescription.

Order them from one of the hundreds of Chinese joints. I got a pair of extra thins from Zinni (I think), for $50, give or take (high index lenses - blind as a bat and without those, I'd have coke bottles).

Same pair would have cost me $200+ in the US.

I agree with you entirely.
Further, IMO a lot of the medical field costs are way too high.

I'm wearing my Kirkland Signature sunglasses right now. Polarized glass lenses, made in Italy, $27. Work and feel just as good as any shades I've paid $200+.

I have gotten good prices at Wal Mart and Vission For Less.
The other stores such as LensCrafters and America's Best are ri-mothereffing-diculous

Luxottica items most glasses chains too. It's all part of the monopoly.

That was absolutely, 100% worth watching. Seriously, if you have bad vision and need glasses at all, watch this. I have 20/20, but like good shades since I'm outside so often.

My favorite part?

"I understand your theory... But they understood that life was better together."

- CEO, setting the record straight about Luxottica merging with Oakley. Disproving the theory that they dropped them from their stores, intentionally cut off a vast majority of their retail distribution, so they could buy it cheaply after the stock price was destroyed.

Such a gansta thing to say and the way he went about forcing Oakley's hand is straight from a mob movie. You can tell he gives zero fricks about the reporter's opinion.

I have used ZenniOptical many times. You will not receive them next day since they apparently ship on a container from Western China routed through Ulan Bator. But they seem to be very decent quality at a great price. Example: titanium frames with anti glare and anti scratch coatings, no line bifocals... shipped less than $60. And so forth.

But one thing you will need is your pupil distance and that does not show on your prescription. Very easy to do though.
