Something I've noticed about (older) people who have never had kids: they are either super happy and love their life or they are the most miserable fricks you will ever meet. There's rarely an in between.

I think you can pretty much apply this to people in general.

That's it in a nutshell. The wife and I were one of those couples, but mutually decided we'd do a disservice to not have children. Educated, stable marriage/career couples should reproduce.

There's still so many expensive, time consuming things i enjoy and want to experience. Having kids will set those things back infinitely. I've got nieces and nephews I get to spoil to death, but don't have to look out for 24/7.

This. If I ever decide to have kids, I think I'll adopt a 10+ year old. You know, one that can behave and have a coherent conversation. The hell with dealing with the demon spawn that some of the mouth breathers procreate.

Here's 22 of them

List of serial killers who were adopted. In the U.S., there have been at least 500 known serial killers. Of that select group, 16% were adopted. The number of adopted children who have turned to murder is astounding, leading some psychologists to believe that some of the feelings that come with being adopted can lead to murderous thoughts. In fact, adopted men and women are 15 times more likely to kill their parents. Is there a link between being adopted and murder? If so, what are the circumstances that make an adopted child want to kill?

Me and the wife are looking for about a 40 year-old to adopt. We're in a mid 60s looking for an heir. Have already bought our plots so that's covered. Finances, we owe nothing or no one. Portfolio, let's just say it'll be worth your time.

All you have to do, don't put us in the fricking loony bin and change our Depends when we can no longer do it ourselves.

Any takers?

I don't look down on them but couldn't imagine not having kids as you get up in age. All the people you know start dying and if you get sick there is no one to look after you or hell even help you do things around your home in your old age. I think it would suck to grow old without children. I can definitely see the up side though when you are in your 20's to 50's.

I have 5 year old twins, and I've legitimately not only never thought about this as a reason to have kids, but I've never even thought about that happening through these 5 years.

Not saying it won't lol. It's just not something I ever thought of to put in the pros list when doing a pros and cons of having kids.

A lot of truth in this. My wife and I don't have kids. We had one pregnancy that resulted in a miscarriage that really devastated my wife. She was afraid to try again, and we are too old now.
I'm the last male in my family, so the family name ends with me. I get sad about it sometimes, but I also see the world as slowly descending into chaos, so I've made peace with it.
