Seems very un Christian like to call out a certain group of people.

I'm offended.

Don't know.

I'm Buddhist.

We just kinda show up and talk about suffering and shite at random times.

I've never seen my church do that. In fact.....because they know that many people there may only be going cause it's Easter they make sure there are enough people at the church welcoming everyone. Making a joke about those people that don't go often seems like a sure fire way to turn someone away from wanting to go more often.

I've had the hypocrisy of the "church" almost completely turn me off from going. It is very difficult for me to reconcile this with my sincere, Christian beliefs, but it's gotten to the point that I'm nauseated by it.

Attendance is voluntary which makes it a moderate religion. It could be a cult like islam where people are required to pray 5 times a day (down from the original 50) or be cast into hellfire or killed for not being islam enough.

Kind of ironic Jesus didn't like churches bc they were a money grab and corrupt. Someone tell me what has changed today. And why do you need a church to profess your Love for God?

You need a church because you need to worship and fellowship with others that share your faith. The Christian faith is not meant to be done all by yourself.

We had a preacher who liked to stand in the back and shake everyone's hand as they left.

Never failed during hunting season he would say "haven't seen you in a while" and everyone would look to see who he was talking to.

So I can only see other people and talk about my faith if I'm in church?

I'm 29 and haven't been to church in 5 years, except for weddings. I'm not atheist - probably more along the lines of hopeful agnostic.

I just eventually got so sick of the hypocrisy and the petty arguing that goes on between religions.

Pretty sure those preachers take shots like that on the Sundays other than Easter when it seems half the congregation is on vacation.

It won't happen at our church (our pastor loves new-bees and gives them the love hoping they will come back). But the once a year folks are usually easy to spot (they are usually wayyyyyy over dressed for our church). We all look like we are headed to a BBQ or the beach.

I was them once.

The last church I attended that did that also followed it up with a 30 minute "discussion" on the money the church needed for improvements for the building (that's only 6 years old) and for "mission trips".

Needless to say we haven't been back and are looking for somewhere else. Unfortunately here everyone seems to be pushing to become a mega-church or they've strayed so far away from a traditional service that it's unappealing.
