Is your retirement just play money or does it supplement the income from your new job, which is less than what you made in the military?

I am. Air Force. My (the wife's) retirement check pays for our house, insurance, and cars. My (also the wife's) regular check pays for utilities, food, etc. and just blowing in general. The retirement check is nowhere near as much as my general paycheck but it sure does come in handy. To be honest, the Tricare insurance is worth almost as much to us as the retirement check.

For me it's not my main source of income.
It does give me f u money though if I am not treated well.
I have a job, a business, a pension and my wife works. Last year I took six months and played golf everyday. Pension made that possible.

My goal is to find a job that is close to the military pay that I was getting, at worst. I'd like for my retirement money to be nothing but frick off money.
