I usually never pick a day.
Does this ever get lonely?

Sometimes I get stir crazy, because I'll go days at a time with my wife being my only human interaction.

My SO usually only lives with me on the weekends anyways. (She goes to pharm school in Baltimore and has student housing there for the weekdays.)

But I could definitely understand that frustration.

I only go into the office to pick up new assignments. I go there about 3 - 4 times per month and I'm usually in and out in about an hour. Good times.

I can pretty much work from home anytime I want so long as I don't over-do it.

ETA: I go up to Oregon in the fall for a couple weeks and just work at my Grandpa's beach house during the week and then get over to Eugene for a home football game. Save the vacation time for other trips.

This right here is one of the best perks of being able to work at home.

I can fly, work on the plane, then plugin when i get to my destination. Then I've basically saved a vacation day even though I was traveling. Makes for a great way to spend a weekend somewhere without taking a vacation day.

Definitely. I also have a mifi, so sometimes I'll just go to the park and work from there. Also nice to sit out on the balcony at home when the weather's nice.

I'm going to Hawaii for a month in August, I'll probably take two weeks of vacation and work the other two weeks.

How does one acquire a job that allows you to do this?

Technically I could pull this off most days that I'm not working in the field, but my boss would definitely not allow this.

A lot of information systems jobs allow you to work remotely. Even when I'm in the office I'm working for some clients who are hundreds of miles away. I have coworkers who live in Denver, Dallas, and Chicago.

Very rarely do I do any work that requires face to face communication.

A lot of outside sales jobs these days allow you to work from home.. I work in medical sales and our nearest office is 2000 mi. away, so all of us in the field have home offices.. Lack of human interaction isn't an issue since I'm meeting with doctors/staff members several times a day, but I pretty much set my own hours.. Any boss who dictates that you do a job in an office that could just as easily be done from home is kind of antiquated, and that management style is most definitely out of touch IMO.. working from home allows you to get a lot more done without having to deal with office politics and water-cooler BS.

I work from home unless I am traveling. Even though my company has a couple of offices in ATL my office is actually in Baltimore. I'm in my office about once per quarter for about 3 days and then travel about 40% of the time. Took quite a time to adjust to working from home after working in the office for about 18 years.

I'm still in my core classes, so I have time to change my major. What fricking jobs do you people have that you get to stay at home randomly?

I am a corporate grassroots organizing and advocacy strategical manager for a lobbying firm. I majored in Political Science with a focus in public policy and US legislative politics, but I wouldn't recommend that to anyone.

Go with a STEM major, I know quite a few engineers who work from home.

I work from home except for about 1 day every 2 weeks and that's just to go show my face to the boss. Most of my clients are out of state so no reason to drive 2.5 hours a day just to do the same thing an the office. Most of my team is remote also so not much opportunity for team building/bonding. Occasionally I'll have a client meeting within an hour from home but usually we have virtual meetings anyway.

In. I rarely do, but it helps when I have things to do in Thibodaux, since my offices are in BR and Harahan.
