Conspiracy theories are called hypotheses in science.

It's amazing how many people reject the scientific method.

Disagree. Rejecting every one is just as intellectually bankrupt as believing every one.

A better metric of intelligence is being able to analyze each one on its own merits and decide how plausible it is.

The Tuskegee experiments were a "wacko conspiracy theory" until the government admitted to it. The government has two different, mutually exclusive official answers on the JFK assassination.

Contrast that to dumbass theories like 9-11 being an inside job or the moon landing being a hoax. In both of those cases, the conspiracy would have required the involvement of thousands of people, all of whom kept their mouths shut from the initial planning to the present day.

I don't believe conspiracy theories but I do think that some events in history may have more to them than written.

But specifically not 9/11 "truthers" or Spike Dumbass Lee and the levees being blown-up. Possibly stuff like the '72 Olympics attack or the Achille Lauro, etc.

1) what would they be covering up
2) and why?

I believe the LSU-Auburn game in 2006 was fixed.

I believe MasterP was involved in influencing LSU football players, particularly the DBs, in1998.

If that makes me crazy, frick you.

History is a one-sided story for the most part

That the plane was brought down by surface to air missile either by terrorist or own military (likely accidental).

Why

Could be a number of reasons. It happened four months before Clinton ran for his second term, Military/other government agencies could be viewed in a negative light, etc. or maybe it was just a poorly run investigation where mistakes were made and then they tried to cover them up after the fact. Either way, the theory that the plane spontaneously combusted seems next to impossible given the evidence.

The plane was brought down to get at one man. That is fact. Believe it or not doesn't make any difference.

The scientific method is used to determine if your hypotheses are correct. All conspiracy theories are are hypotheses without the method!

I don't necessarily believe in conspiracy theories, but I do believe in people believing in conspiracy theories if that floats their boats.

So terrorists attacked us and we covered it up? Illogical.

THe military accidentally shot a surface to air missile at a passenger plane right outside of New York City? Even more illogical.

None of that resembled a coherent explanation in the slightest.

I read it in a history of the NSA. If I remember right he was a govt informant that had been instrumental in dozens of arrests.

Oh, so you're saying it was a hit from some rogue nation or crime organization?
