Seems like a cool place to check out.

Lighthouses seem cool.

I like lobster.

Canadians.

Probably like the majority of OTers is that I've only flown over it on the way to Europe.
Although I know folks who have been and they really liked that whole area.

Almost went in August. I didn't think there would be enough things to do to keep my kids happy for a week. Decided on the Pacific Northwest and had a great trip.

Allow me to be the first to throw out a Rickyism. Make my words: this thread will result in many Rickyisms being posted.

I have. It was a cool town. Would have liked more time not working. Mostly ate and drank, no tourist activities.

St. Johns, New Brunswick was a pretty cool town as well.

Spent a week there in 2010. I was on a ship that docked there. British ship and German ship docked on the same pier. During the World Cup. It was awesome

Not a reason to go, but a cool factoid:
(About a hour from Halifax)

quote:

Our Splendid Replica of the Grand-Pré Deportation Cross The Acadian Memorial is the first of several international sites to erect a replica of the Grand-Pré Deportation Cross. The original Deportation Cross, near the Grand-Pré National Historic Site in Nova Scotia, marks the site of embarkation of over 2,000 Acadian farmers and tradesmen and their families in 1755. A series of commemorative cross monuments will be designed and unveiled in Atlantic Canada, the United States, France, England, the Caribbean and Quebec to mark those sites where Acadians landed after the Deportation.

There are a few of these around the world including one in St. Martinville near the Evangeline Oak at the Acadian museum on Bayou Teche to memorialize the Acadian Diaspora. Pretty cool to check out if you are ever over there and have time to kill.

Pro Tip.

Bring good shoes.

In Halifax, if you're walking, it's uphill or downhill.

Damned place is basically a rock jutting out of the ocean.

Been there a couple of times. Some good bars and lobster. The Lower Deck, Salty's, McKelvie's are what I remember. It's got some history about it if you're into that.
