Which State has the strongest "Good Ol' Boys" system?

When I lived in Louisiana I was fascinated just how deeply entrenched some of the industries and politics were in the state, and reading Kingfish and some of the threads (especially the riverboat pilot ones) posted here helped me to understand just some of the basics of the system.

Is Louisiana just an outlier, or are there some strong/stronger localized Good Ol'Boys systems in other states? And what are they?

It exists in most states, but LA is definitely the most well-known for it.

I assume the union heavy states in the northeast are essentially good ol boy states.

LA is the worst at a state level I think. New Jersey might be close. There are some regions of other states - West Texas and Chicago come to mind - where it's bad as well.

Illinois' is quite strong. New Jersey, Mississippi, Maryland - basically any state that has pervasive corruption.

Illinois might give Louisiana a run for its money

The rural areas of TX in general probably give LA a run for it's money. I don't think it is nearly as bad when you get into the cities as far as politics and business go but maybe I'm wrong. Rural East TX is almost as bad as West TX in my experience as far as under the table deals with vendors and setting up companies in your mother in law's name

Manhattan Jews definitely have a "good ol' boys" network.

I would argue the strongest because the elite of NY have a lot of influence.

NY. Even the cross guards have a union. Talk about a racket.

i'm curious what parts? i'm from west texas and i didn't see it that much. Maybe i was just young and naive, but shite i see out at Beaumont beats anything i've seen in West Texas.

The city alone probably brings the whole state to #1.

New Orleans makes LA the runaway winner but i wouldn't describe the nepotism as "good ole boy" so much as "8th generation bro"

NY is about money money money though I would think. I imagine some of the most influential people there aren't even from there

In O&G in West TX blatant fraud by people is pretty bad. Especially when you get to smaller operators and not your majors. Guys setting up service companies in a family member's name then awarding them work and fixing the rates seemed like a pretty common thing, as an example. It happens everywhere in the industry but it seemed most acceptable there probably because the industry is so engrained in the area
