I can see how pulling away without paying would aggravate the kitchen staff who had started preparing your order, but no one pulled away from the McD drive thru with food they didn't pay for, since you must pay in the first window and get your food in the second window.

Yeah, you assume these places are run well enough that the people at the 2nd window are keeping track of who's paid and who hasn't. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.
