I bet a male liger would have a shot. Ligers (cross between male lion and female tiger) are significantly larger than either parent and are usually bigger even than Siberian tigers.

Pretty even. Could go either way.

I read about it somewhere but Siberian Tigers will straight up eat a brown bear in Russia. Might have been just the females bears though.
ETA: I might be wrong. On mobile but it said tigers will kill smaller bears while they are hibernating but not any bear larger than them. And that some bears have killed and eaten tigers.

Black panthers for sure, but then we would have a problem figuring out if brown bears matter more than black panthers, so I'm not playing this game.

I don't get the people saying the quickness of a tiger is a dominant factor. We are talking about a fight, not a chase.
A tiger would have to get in a grizzly's kitchen to go for the throat and even it it managed to get in on the bear, all it is going to clamp down on is a mouth full of fat and fur. It's not gonna be able to get to any interior blood vessels or the larynx of a grizzly.

Of course. It's bred for its skills in magic.

We need to rehash the 25 page debate on grizzly vs gorilla.

All except lions and tigers. Not saying they can't take lions and tigers but grizzlies can definitely take out the others.
I saw a black bear that was considerable smaller than a grizzly, tear up a full grown mountain lion

A mountain lion is probably a grizzly bear's best bet. Lions & Tigers are too big and strong, Leopards, Jaguars and Cheetahs are too fast and the mountain lion is the smallest and slowest of all the others.

Too fast for what? At some point they have to engage and when they do the cats are fricked.

It´s not a wrestling match.
Don´t think a solid tiger would lose with a grizzly.
Lion, don´t know, but I may lean towards the lion.

A Kodiak maxes out at 1500 lbs.
True but the Kodak is usually not the variety of Brown Bear that is meant when using the term Grizzly rather the smaller inland variety of Brown bear, maxing out closer to 1000-1200 lbs
quote:
The largest tigers max out just under 700 lbs.
That's low, just over 900 lbs is the max.
Additionally, Siberian Tigers more often than not win encounters with Russian brown bears in the wild. Those bears are smaller than Grizzlies, but not by a great deal.

Lion taking down a water buffalo is an impressive sight to see.
It usually takes 3-4 lions to take down a mature cape buffalo bull and even then it is a real struggle.
