I don't ever want to have to replace everything I own, I would rather live a safe distance from hurricanes

You're the first person I've ever seen to claim Dallas weather doesn't suck as bad as Houston. Houston has humidity and occasional tropical storms.

Dallas has ice storms, thunder storms, wind storms, tornadoes, heat and drought.

I've lived in both Dallas and Houston (Kemah), so....

Ice storms? Really? Are these happening daily? These are beyond rare.

Thunder storms? Wait...we have weather? Houston doesn't? Houston ranks in the Top 10 cities for thunderstorms. Dallas doesn't.

Wind storms? What the f*ck is this? We don't have "wind storms". We have a thunder storms that may contain high winds...just like Houston.

Tornadoes? Yep...but, Houston has more tornadoes than Dallas.

Heat? Yep, it gets hot here. It's also hot in Houston.

Drought? Seriously? We don't live on farms here in DFW so an occasional drought doesn't cause massive economic or property damage to the area. They just limit our sprinkler use. Cars stay cleaner longer between washes though.

Houston Tornadoes since 1950 (214 total):

Dallas Tornadoes since 1950 (92 total):

Ice storms in Dallas only seem to happen during big football events, hence the unearned reputation.
