I'm not sure if that's enough to do what I want to do.

I guess i could make it work, but I'd get a 60 - 70' sport fisher and live on it.

Fish all over the world.

Yeah, I don't think 20 is going to do it for very long. I'd have to do some good investing.

That would be awesome. I read a story a while back about a retired couple that sold their house, bought a boat, and cruised the Bahamas for 5 years. Used sail power when they could. It cost them roughly 15k/yr.

I'd buy a thousand acres in east tx and a big arse house in the tyler azalea district with all the oil rich white folks and a second home in Aix en Provence where I'd spend my summers.

Not enough for me to never work again. Hell, if I wanted to live in NY that wouldn't be enough for the kind of apartment I'd want to live in.

I'd buy a big house on waterfront property on the bay in the Niceville, FL area as my primary home. Buy a camp with a couple hundred acres in north LA or MS for deer hunting, and buy another camp in the Atchafalaya basin for when I get the urge to engage in coonass activities. I'd want to get out of NOLA area but still be close enough to family/friends to just jump in the truck and go when I feel like visiting.

That would be the single greatest cost, I figure at least 1 million a year in fuel and food.

I thought so too. Apparently, they just did easy cruising using mostly wind.

That's a beautiful area... But there's no land with deep water. Everything is super shallow for the type of boat I will have when I retire.

That's a beautiful toy.

But the OP says where would you live. You would go apeshit trying to live on that for a long time. You'd be sick to death of it half way across the Atlantic.
