Another Flood Map

This shows you real time imagery during the flood event in and around areas of Lafayette Parish.

North of Abbeville isn't bad.. subdivisions are popping up like crazy on 167. Wouldn't feel comfortable with the looming school zoning coming out that will put all those places at J.H. Williams and Abbeville High.

North vermilion is where you want to go to school.

Don't move to Scott. We don't want you.

That's probably one of the more convenient areas for his situation.

If I were in that situation, I'd probably look in the Carencro or north of area. While development is not as agressive in the area, you can probably get a lot more for your money there. I'd rather have to drive more to get to restaurants, shopping areas, etc than to have to fight daily rush hour traffic everyday.

St. Landry parish is a shitshow too.

You are preaching to the choir my friend. I grew up in SLP and knew not to move back there. Then I go to Lafayette Parish, and realize the local government is just as inept as SLP.

Now that I'm looking at other places out of state, I realize how much more for your money you can get elsewhere, and also a nice return for the epic frick ton of taxes I pay.

Either way, moving to Lafayette Parish, especially after the flooding, is a tricky endeavor now. Be VERY CAREFUL and make sure you know what you are getting into. If you have questions about your area, DO NOT ASK LOCAL LEADERSHIP about it. They will lie their asses off to you.

Lafayette Parish is trying really hard now to diversify the economy since O&G is busting. They are selling their souls to do it. Just be careful.

Important factors are daycare, commute to North Laf/Carencro, and we obviously don't want to be in a high crime area. I like the Youngsville and Broussard areas.

Where's the job in Carencro?

We live in Youngsville and my wife the does the drive to Carencro daily. She leaves early enough so traffic isn't an issue really, just distance.

Being from Abbeville, Id suggest an area on the North side of town. Im sure you've heard of it, Rabbit Hill - that's if you own an Apache attack helicopter

Avoid Carencro. Carencro is growing, yes, but they are screwing their citizens during this process by not taking care of the drainage. Carencro, like Broussard and Youngsville, is only another decent rain away from flooding out. The city/parish government knows this, but is not fixing it. North of Carencro you have Sunset and Arnaudville as viable options, but that's not saying much. Opelousas is out. That place is a dump.
