I don't consider 9" inseams to be "short shorts." I even wear 7" on occasion and don't consider them to be "short shorts" either. I personally wouldn't go shorter than that. I consider 11" to be too long, but that's just a personal preference.

I wear 7" even though I have long legs. They definitely look like short shorts. Who the frick cares? If it's hot, and I'm wearing something comfortable and non-insular, why the frick would I want something that reaches me knees? Makes no sense.

Peter Millar but I have to get them hemmed. For more casual/outdoor stuff I wear Mountain Khakis or Patagonia stretch baggies, the best shorts ever made.
