Go to Sabine or Lasalle parish sometime. Your dreams of seeing dirt roads will become 100% reality

Yesterday. I will again today. Then again tomorrow. Then again ad nauseam until I find a new job, which I won't. Because I enjoy having to drive to remote places.

I grew up there. A buddy of mine knew Tompkins. I didn't go to Rogers, though.
Small world I guess.

Nearly every day of the week. Lots of dirt roads in my neck of the woods. Most of them are work related by my Dad has a place on a dirt road that I go to pretty often....

"It's where I drank my first beer
It's where I found Jesus
Where I wrecked my first car
I tore it all to pieces"
Red Dirt Road
Always figured these 3 things happened within a short period of time for this young man, although not necessarily in the order listed....

When was the last time you drove down a dirt road?

When we drop the trash at King Landfill after a long weekend in BSTL. Its pretty fun to haul arse down Rifle Range Rd and kick up some dust along the way.

Weekly at a minimum. It could be daily, here in Montana.

The past three days in West Nebraska.
I believe some of those roads were in better shape than the paved ones in Louisiana.

Nearly every day here on the farm in Virginia. Got one road on my place that's listed on Google, but it's a dead end so it's never routed.
Can't wait to get out to CO this summer in the Ruby where they have 105,000 miles of unpaved roads.

A few years ago in Tuscany. To get from the main road to a winery in Vagliani north of Siena we had to drive several miles on a dirt road through the vineyards. It was a strange experience. We were out in the middle of nowhere and thought we were lost until we saw a sign announcing our destination.

About as far as the pass at Port Mansfield. Several years ago, the south side of that pass was a clothing optional area, reachable by vehicle from Brownsville

When we bought this house, it was on a dirt road and had been for going on 200 years.
Ten years in, they put a coat of black top on it and we and the neighbors (both of them) stopped saving used motor oil to treat the road the next time the house needed to be painted.

A few weeks ago on Eglin AFB public forest, just north of Navarre. A lot of forest, and plenty of dirt roads around there. We drove to the trailhead that goes to Dean Creek to hike in the creek. One of the clearest, most pristine creeks I've ever seen, with a white, fine, sandy bottom. Pictures don't do it justice.
