Sweet, poetic justice

quote:

An Australian teen is learning one of the many reasons why you shouldn't cause grief for Twitch streamers. PayPal has refused to refund Anthony Archer after he made a total of $50,000 in donations to several well-known Twitch users (including LegendaryLea and NoSleepTV) as part of a trolling scheme. He'd intended to cancel the transactions through PayPal a month after making them, leaving the streamers high and dry, but PayPal wasn't having any of it -- he's on the hook for the full amount. And given that he appears to have used his parents' credit card, he's in more than a little trouble with them, too.

he needs to meet up with this Aussie teen/troll legend and work on some new projects

a way for you to watch other people play video games, which is a concept I will never understand as someone who's played video games their whole life.

I've watched Halo highlights. So I guess I'm guilty to some degree.

I don't really see the issue. I guess if you're really into video games, it can be entertaining to watch the best of the best go at it.

Not anymore ridiculous than watching someone else play poker on TV, IMO.

My stepdaughter will be 14 and when she has friends over, they get on the couch, turn on the tv, and watch YouTube videos of people playing video games.

equally pointless to me

I'll watch montage vids and walkthroughs, sure. I'm talking about the people who stay in twitch rooms for hours and donate money to streamers and such. frick that, it's like waiting your turn on Super Mario Bros as a kid. Let me play.

I guess I have a proper amount of shame about how much time I waste with games that spending money to watch other people play is crossing the line

i was never a hardcore gamer. back in undergrad i was a hardcore NCAA/Madden guy and for the past 10-ish years i've been on/off on Fifa

i rarely play anything other than the primary game (and almost exclusively online).

and i still play CS (started in hike school 15 years ago)

You can watch for free.

It's a good way to see games you might want to buy and see end game content. It's also cool to see some of the best people in the world play certain games you have played, and realize how shitty you might be(but think you're actually good)

Word.

And for the posters talking about how stupid it is to watch other people play video games, it's called the "generation gap".

Congratulations, you are now officially "too old" and "out of touch".

The best people would mop the floor with an average gamer. First person shooters would be terribly unfair.

Those dudes would kill you before you even saw them in a game like CS
