My boss's kids have called him by his first name their whole lives. Guess he told them that he didn't want to be called dad. Not sure if they address their mom as mom or not.
For some reason they call her "Daddy"

By the time you're 30, it's just weird after that.

It's never unacceptable in my opinion.

30 year old male. Will always either say daddy or popper.

My grandfather died at 84, his 8 sons all called him daddy. Its a non issue.

Why do you find it acceptable to call your daddy your "old man"..?

When he begins a story, he always refers to himself in the third person as "your old man." He doesn't realize it but it's pretty funny.

Im older than 50, and my daddy left us March 29. I called him daddy up until March 28.

I'm 37 and my dad passed Feb 27th. I still called him daddy on occasion and even more so towards the end. No regrets.

This board's obsession with worrying about what other people do is fricking weird. It's nuts to me how insecure so many people are.

I'm like Aspy, for some reason we started to call our parents by their first names at about age 20 for me. They were 50+.

It was weird for the time.

I never remember calling him "daddy" only "dad" before that.

I haven't called him anything directly since '89.

Is seens weird to you to call your father dad too or just daddy? I can see daddy being a little strange but not dad.

I think he's saying it feels weird for him to say Dad because he's always said Daddy.

When I'm speaking to my family members about my father I'll refer to him as "daddy." To others I'll call him "dad."

For instance, I'd never say to a friend, "My daddy is coming to visit next week."

I have 2 of these that do this. One is 26 and 1 is 23. Their choice, not mine, and I wouldn't have it any other way. And I still kiss them on top of their head whenever I see them, no matter who is around, or the setting.

Yeah no kidding, I have never called them by their first names.

Hell, I'm 39, but if I met you when I was child, like the parents of my grade school/ high school friends, you are still Mr. or Mrs. whatever to me.
