Have recently learned something about my prayer life. The Bible says, 'you ask but don't receive because you ask for the wrong reason'. My wife has had a rough month health wise and I would pray that her wellness be restored and then it dawned on me, 'but why do you ask this of Me'....so that her joy in You be restored and shared...seemed to have been of helps!

No doubt, some dear friends of mine lost their lives but that doesn't diminish my belief

Start keeping a list of answered prayers and your faith will be bulletproof before long.

We have a bunch of stones we write names on of answered prayers, so our kids can remember.
Multiple people where the doctors called in a priest for a last prayer. Our small group was lifting them up in prayer, and a few weeks later they were walking into the church like usual.
My niece with spina bifida is running and playing tee ball and you'd never guess her journey.
My childhood friend had a daughter born at 24 weeks. She spent months in the hospital. Just celebrated her first birthday!

My wife had a 3 year struggle with occipital neuralgia (not much of a prognosis there). Bad medications, constant pain and unable to get pregnant on those pills, she tried weaning herself off and prayed while she laid awake at 2am in excruciating pain. She ran across a doctor that claimed to heal that condition. He happened to live in a city just 4 hours away, and happened to have an opening to treat her the next 3 days (a patient flying in from Canada canceled), and her sister just happened to move about 12 minutes away from that Dr just 6 months before. She quit her meds cold turkey, drove over that afternoon and stayed with her sister 3 days.
Came back with no pain and happy as ever. Food tasted better. I was funny again, according to her, lol.

No less than 20 other stories like that.
God is real. He listens and cares. He doesn't always make life easier, because He's more concerned with our character than our comfort. He's not a genie, but He has a plan and will reveal His love and power of you want to know Him.
Jesus is all you need.

We had our third pregnancy. First two went great. Went in for the ultrasound and the tech did the whole “let me get the doctor”…hearts dropped.

The doctor comes back in and immediately sends us to a high risk specialist. We get another ultrasound and all of the markers are there that our son had Down’s syndrome. NOTE: we were heartbroken but we were going to love him just the same. We are Christians and prayed that God would guide us and prepare us for what was ahead. Went back several times and the markers were there (fluid on his neck, swollen feet, and some others we didn’t understand. The doctor told us “there are options with this pregnancy”. We got what he was saying and said we were absolutely going to carry the pregnancy to full term and love the little fella with all that we had.

Fast forward about two months. We did our next ultrasound. The high risk physician came in after the ultrasound and these were his exact words, “I knew you were a couple of faith and what I am about to tell you cannot be explained by medical science. All of the markers are gone, your child is perfectly healthy. I simply cannot explain this other than God.”

We had a completely healthy 3rd boy and this kid is beyond perfect. Everybody that comes into contact with him is amazed that he is mature beyond his years and everybody in school from students of all grades to faculty all love the kid and he excels in sports.

As a side, my wife’s father passed away when he was three and before he passed said that he was going to be very special…he is living up to it daily.

Truly God and God alone.

I love to hear the stories of good fortune, healed family members, I guess job promotions, and the many prayers that resulted in the saints 2010 Super Bowl win. To me this seems like baader meinhof frequency illusion. For every job promotion there where ones who prayed and didn’t get it. For everyone on the brink of death who prayed and died, they aren’t here to say their prayer wasn’t answered, so only those miraculous survivors get prayers answered, and unequally are represented. When prayers aren’t answered it’s a test, when they are it’s a blessing. For theist, I can see being thankful to God for these things, but at the same time many of these blessings are at the cost of others, and it seems twisted to be thankful for that.

Is any of this supported by scripture? There are some verses that are absolute in saying if you pray for it, you will get it. Where are the ones about not getting it? And if God knows everything is determined…what is the point? I hear he’s not a vending machine and it is to engage in an intimate relationship (no diddy) with God? Is this scriptural?

I needed to pass a background check but I was worried about one guy that had dirt on me.

I prayed over it.

2 weeks later the guy died in a single vehicle DWI accident.

I didn’t pray specifically for that. But I was still very thankful.

I passed the background check and had a wonderful career.

My wife and I decided to flip our first house on the side. We initially thought it would take maybe 3 months and ended up taking over 18 months. Completely drained our finances and we were arguing a lot over decisions made.

We also got pregnant and had our first daughter in the midst of all this. We thought we’d never be able to sell it but as soon as it was finally finished we got a full price offer within a week of being on the market. We sold in February 2020 and we now know the pandemic was in full swing the next month. Home sales Activity eventually picked up but we wouldn’t have made it another few months.

I know that was God. Our household income has tripled since then and I feel like that was a turning point in our faith and our relationship.

I'm still alive and healthy again after two years of fighting cancer. My prayers and a lot of other people's prayers were answered.

Just a little while ago my wife was pregnant with unexpected multiples, and having lots of trouble pre-birth. Checked in 2 weeks bf due date, next morning it's an emergency section, 24 hours later, renal failure, liver shutting down and heart failing. It was the Tim Mcgraw song in real life.

Been with my woman over 20 years. I was a mess. A room full of specialists took her into her surgery, and the 2nd anesthesiologist in command over the hospital complex told me before I left to ask for prayers, because my girl was dying.

After another week and a half in the icu, we went home to be with their big brother, the hounds and the chickens. Had doctors coming by not affiliated with the case, "just to see the woman who cheated the inevitable."

She's in the bed now resting easy. Say what you will about the hundreds who prayed with me, but I know what I say about them and the professionals who turned the wrenches, and it's worth far more than gold and rubies.

I was diagnosed with subcutaneous lymphoma 20 years ago. A group of people at my church prayed for me. A local pastor told me that I had a miracle from God and not to let the devil steal it from me. I went to see a specialist and the lymphoma was gone.

I hear you. Recently prayed that a dear friend's health be restored and that joy return to him and his family. As we were visiting he told me 'I am ready to go, have no regrets'.

He died the day after Christmas....were those of us still here sorrowful and mournful? Of course! But; we likewise know his health has been made perfect and he is joyful and though we miss him, we know he is well....that prayer was answered!

To have a relationship one must spend time with the other - to get to know one another - so yes, it is Scriptural. Is precisely what Jesus prayed for in the Garden of Gethsemane....'this is eternal life, that they may KNOW you [the Father] and him [the Son].

Girl who I thought I was going to marry broke up with me. I thank God every day that was his plan. Devastated at the time but man what an unanswered prayer. He found the right girl for me and it’s been 27 years.

Well I’m a dummy. I read unanswered instead of answered. ?????

Yes I can see it’s scriptural for prayer to be a relationship tool.

But does prayer change Gods mind or future? I’m guessing no. So is it unbased to attribute prayer results to God changing fate for us?

Most here and elsewhere are saying since I requested X, and X happened, God granted that, and that it may have been different if one had not prayed.

I don’t hear them just saying they are thankful that Gods will and their own will are aligned.

Scripture has instances where men appealed to God and He was convinced to do otherwise - Moses comes to mind as God had His fill of the Hebrews - was ready to end the entire lot and Moses asked that His wrath be withheld - which it was.

I have had prayers denied - thank goodness - as God had other and better plans of spiritual manner, not health or financial though He does move in those areas

I was doing missions in Chiguara, Venezuela and we found a man that had a giant tumor on his head. We put oil on it and prayed over him and when we came back 3 days later it was gone and he fell at our feet.

Even though I completely believe in the insurmountable power of God, I don’t share that story often because people look at me like I’m psycho when I retell it in Protestant circles. Completely inexplicable.

My wife views me as a hopeless optimist, and she’s not wrong but I have never doubted God’s omnipotence since that day.

Just several months Post Katrina SELA tight job market and got a good offer with a solid firm, great rapport with top 2-3 people, 2 week start date, and went on vacation with wife.
Come home and learn the offer got jacked up due to some inner turmoil. Was so pissed off. FF a year later, was a rough few months of job hunt and interviewing, ended up in a good spot, and the firm with the prior offer disbanded. Toxic work place.
Whew.

I’ve had so many prayers answered I stopped believing in coincidences. Congratulations and consider this God answering the invitation to come into your life.
