re: What's up with cars whose right turn peaks as you just pass them on the left?

I agree, I always brace when I see people do the left image.
It also matters how much room I have before the car I am turning in front of gts to me. If I have to be quick, I'm not worrying about my apex.
I would really like to discuss left turns on green and yielding and when do you stop for the adjacent red light and when do you go through the red light as a part of your left turn on green., (so confusing I need to draw it to explain it)
Basically when you turn left on green, you yield to oncoming traffic on the other side. If there is a median, you may enter the median. But what do you do when the median is 30 feet wide? Do you still go and continue your turn on green, or do you now stop for the red light that wasn't intended for you?
I see cars do both.

You mean if there's a middle part that fits 2-3 cars?
I want to talk about if a protected left turn is on the side of the law to people who make rights on reds right (on opposite side of road) just in front of you because they treat it as a yield.

Rule of thumb: assume the other driver sucks and will hit you given a chance.

yes. what distance is the neutral ground width supposed to be for someone to stop, rather than just treat it like a small median?
