i think it's only really expensive if you want a white newborn baby, b/c demand is high for that lot

My ex-SIL has 30K+ invested in a Romanian daughter. She is worth every cent but they would never think of funding her. Conclusion? Respectable but odd

You're practically saving a life when you adopt
Why is that any less noble a cause than cancer?

Trashy. If you're gonna buy a kid you should get a loan.

Kind of fricked up that they could sell a kid to the highest bidder... but at least white babies are getting preferential treatment.

I don't know the exact amount, but a friend's sister just adopted a Mexican baby and it was very costly from what I do know.

you dick
Adopting babies from foreign countries isn't cheap either with all the flights and time off work, so it's not necessarily a white child

While I think there are worse reasons to ask for money, I feel like it's equivalent to the people that buy the nice house and stay house poor for the mortgage.

While demand is high, each state is different but the whole thing is a shite show. Should be about the kids and it ain't.
You'd think every state would do everything in their power to place kids in good homes but they're more interested in raking in cash. I know people that spent up to $30K (in Georgia).

I agree with this point, but I believe taking donations is for when life thrusts an insurmountable financial burden on you, not when you want to do something, no matter how awesome, that you can't afford.

Never said or implied that it wasn't.

When my sister was looking into adopting, black children were about 1/3 - 1/2 the price of white children. My brother in law is part Korean, and they were actually more expensive than white kids.

I guess it's better than this.

This would be one of the better causes to use gofundme.
That being said, I don't see a problem with the trashy people (noble causes exempted here) that beg for money. It's no different than those panhandlers on the street corner. The losers out there that contribute are the people I think are the problem.
I give more than average to charity. I check those people/organizations out to be sure my money will be used to good end.

I'm indifferent. I think overall it's good and there are worse things people raise money for.
My aunt has 4 adopted children from China. They sold shirts and some other things to raise a little money for the last one...I'd imagine it's very expensive to adopt from China, so do what you gotta do.

When my wife and I adopted our sons we had to pay $1000 for a lawyer. The real expense came after the adoption. We went from having 0 kids to having a 6 yr old and a 2 yr old.
When we adopted them they had 2 outfits, 1 pair of shoes and 1 toy each. We had nothing they needed, I'll bet we spent $20,000 in a year just getting things they needed (bed room sets, Toys and clothes). 5 years later they are both spoiled rotten.

Nobody has pride anymore. Every day someone is raising money for something they would have been too embarrassed to even ask their family for 10 years ago.
Pretty accurate statement, but this is a terrible thread to use as an example.
In regards to the OP, my initial reaction is anger about the absurd cost of adoption in the first place.

Pretty sure it was a joke. I think she lost a bet or something, but it was hilarious.
