There was an article a while back in the paper that said it's all inaccurate unless it's tested during an autopsy

You can get a Tanita scale on Amazon for around $50. I think they're proven to be accurate within a certain % range.

InBody 520

Most accurate compared to Dexa scan. Takes 1 minute and costs about $20 at Foxy's.

Dexa is the most accurate but it will cost you $125-$150 and take about an hour.

Id say go to your local PT Clinic and see if any of the PTs or Kinesiologists there can give you a caliper test. They are actually very accurate when done by an experienced person.

Op, depending on your timeline, sign up for a pennington biomedical study dealing with body fat. They'll put you in the state of the art technology, give you your reading and some plan to follow. If you feel like making money, do the plan, if not... bail out with your body fat reading...

Amazon, $50 scale, will do body fat, bone mass, muscle %, water %, and weight.

Put in your accurate information (hint: you aren't athletic) and you will get excellent info.

Body pod. Most colleges have one in the kinesiology department. It's mostly really in shape people there trying to get exact count. It's like am I in single digits? If your a fat azz this is not the route. the difference between 25 and 30 is who cares your fat.

Most effective way done cheaply AND regularly would be calipers once a week.
